Some parents may ask, what exactly is AMC? Why do American parents attach so much importance to AMC competitions?

AMC stands for American Mathematics Competitions, a mathematics competition sponsored by the American Mathematical Association . About

300,000 students participate in the competition every year .The AMC competition is very important in American universities, especially in applications for

STEM majors (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)

, where almost everyone will submit this score .

A number of top universities in the United States, such as MIT, Caltech, Yale, Brown, Carnegie Mellon, Princeton, etc., specifically remind students to submit AMC test scores on their university application forms :

MIT Application Form

CMU Carnegie Mellon application form

If a child can qualify for the AIME Invitational Competition in the AMC competition , it means that he or she has an excellent foundation in science and is fully qualified to participate in competitions in other subjects such as physics and chemistry.

With multiple awards in hand, the competitiveness of the TOP30 universities will increase dramatically !

Greg Brockman, co-founder of OpenAI, is a perfect example of a true AMC beneficiary. , and he successfully entered the USAMO finals in high school and was admitted to Harvard and MIT with extra points .

The most important activity during middle school is to participate in the AMC American  Mathematics Competition

Precisely because of the importance of AMC scores,

the number of applicants has increased year by year . In 2024, a total of 139,000 students participated in the AMC 8 competition, and a total of 159,000 students participated in the AMC 10/12. The competition is getting more intense every year.

Tomorrow (January 22) is the official start date of

the 2025 AMC 8 exam . Are the students taking the exam ready?Want to be

Think Academy has trained in the past five years . All of this comes from Think’s complete curriculum system, excellent team of famous teachers and powerful learning materials database.

Thousands of  math competition winners

1. Complete curriculum system, covering all test points.
The most important reason why children do not perform well in learning and exams is that they are exposed to few knowledge points and fail to lay a solid mathematical foundation. But at Think, competition teachers will help children

sort out all the core knowledge points of the competition , from the basics to the difficult points, to ensure that students can steadily improve and easily cope with the challenges of the competition.

100% coverage of MK level 1-4 knowledge points

The first 15 questions are covered in spring, and the last 10 questions are covered in summer and autumn

2. Innovative  teaching methods to cultivate thinking abilityThink’s teaching method integrates the concept of

“learning from one example and applying it to other situations” to cultivate students’

critical thinking and problem-solving abilities . Through progressive course design and real-life application, students can not only easily grasp the key points and difficulties in the competition, but also integrate knowledge and flexibly deal with complex questions.

3. Top-notch teacher team, personalized guidanceOur teachers come from

top universities around the world and have extensive experience in competition coaching. They can provide

personalized coaching based on each student’s learning characteristics to ensure efficient improvement and help students achieve excellent results.

For example, Mr. Chen Chen from Think Academy is the competition coach of the national team for the IMO Mathematical Olympiad. The teaching and research teacher ,

Mr. Tang Xiaotao , is a bronze medalist in the Chinese Olympic Mathematical Competition, a member of the Hope Cup Question Setting Committee, and the person in charge of teaching and research for the Think Olympiad competition. These top teachers have studied the AMC competition for many years and have summarized a series of experiences.

Students only need to take a few classes to complete hundreds of questions , so they can naturally cope with the competition more easily than other children.

AMC 10 question-setting team teacher Li Qiusheng has long-term cooperation with Think Academy

4. The ultimate after-school service throughout the year

Think’s teachers will provide detailed feedback and tracking on the children’s learning process .After each class: teacher’s summary and feedback on class performanceAfter homework: Provide practice suggestions and review suggestions based on wrong questionsAfter each month: a detailed monthly report summarizing the child’s learning this monthAfter each half term: Mid-term parents’ meeting to summarize what has been learned and plan for the future

Spring Course Introduction

Based on the learning characteristics and needs of North American children, Think Academy has carefully designed a series of professional, comprehensive and systematic year-round mathematics courses for students in grades PreK-9.The elementary school section is divided into

the school’s advanced system and

the competition system . The content covers

seven modules (computation, geometry, number theory, application, counting and probability, algebra, and combination). By the senior grades, the overall progress can be accumulated to be

1-2 years ahead of the Common Core progress . At the same time, the competition system also covers the knowledge points of

Math Kangaroo and AMC 8, the most popular and authoritative mathematics competitions in the United States .The middle school section is divided into

the Honors competition system and

the Advanced school-based advanced system provides escort for in-school tests such as class placement tests and standardized tests .The Honors system is based on the knowledge points and question types of AMC8 and AMC10. It combines the children’s in-school learning progress to help them win awards in AMC8 and AMC10 more efficiently. The Advanced system is based on the American Common Core

Mathematics Syllabus, consolidating the knowledge points in school.

1. For younger children in PreK and K grades
, Think will focus on developing their spatial imagination, simple number sense, basic logical reasoning, statistics and measurement, inspiring their interest in mathematics and helping them try to solve some small problems in life.

2. First and second gradeChildren of this age already have a certain mathematical foundation. Think will help children further understand more abstract concepts, such as area, tree diagrams, statistical graphs, etc., laying a solid foundation for future in-depth learning.

3. Grade 3 and 4Children in these two grades will learn about decimals, common multiples, parallel and perpendicular numbers, area, probability, simple equations, etc., which will help them accumulate knowledge and inspire their thinking. The content is 1-2 years ahead of public school content, helping them to successfully participate in

Math Kangaroo and achieve good results.

4. Fifth grade
In many school districts, fifth grade is the last year of elementary school, which means that children are about to face

the “class division” after entering junior high school . Students who enter the fast-track class will receive

the best teaching resources in the school , be selected for the school team, and participate in mathcounts, AMC, and even other math or science competitions.Think will help fifth-grade children further improve their logical thinking, analytical skills, and calculation abilities,

so that they can successfully pass the placement test and enter the fast-track class .Children in the competition system will

participate in AMC 8 for the first time in the fifth grade and strive for AR . They will continue to sprint for AMC 8 HR/DHR in the following sixth and seventh grades.

5. Pre-Algebra—Algebra 2
Pre-Algebra—Algebra 2 is the key and difficult part of mathematics learning. Think will help children

plan ahead and strengthen their in-school learning to achieve a GPA of 4.0 in school . The difficulty is enough to cover various in-school exams and grade skipping or class placement exams.

6. AMC 10 Basic CampAMC10 Basic Camp is a springboard course for children to prepare for AMC10 and AIME. After students have learned the basic concepts of Algebra 1 and Geometry, it integrates the four major test points of AMC10: algebra, geometry, number theory, and counting probability to help children learn the medium-difficulty questions of AMC10 (equivalent to the difficulty of Q5-15 questions) and

prepare for the AIME in November this year .

7. Pre-CalculusPre-Calculus has always been one of the most important courses in the American high school

 mathematics system.

The foundation of Pre-Calculus directly determines the learning results of AP Calculus !Think will help children:* After completing Pre-Calculus in the spring, you can take the AP PreCal exam in May;* Accelerate your learning progress, pass the school placement test, and start AP Calculus directly next school year;* Lay a solid foundation for high school competitions such as AMC12 and AIME, and start preparing for the exams during the summer vacation.

Every child has unlimited potentialThe most important thing is to follow the right teacherAt

Think Academy

Every child has a chance to win!Bring your children to listen.

Maybe one chance can change the child’s fateMake them learn easier, happier and more efficiently
